About Mrs. Phelps

My name is Brittany Phelps and this year I am a second grade teacher!  Formerly, I taught third grade here at TES. I am married to Josh Phelps from Creswell, NC and I have two sons, Isaac and Caleb. We have 3 cats; Socks, Lucy, and Mei.
 
I grew up in Columbia, NC and graduated from Tyrrell County Schools in 2007. I then went on to receive my B.S. in Elementary Education from ECSU. #VikingPride! 
 
Currently, I am taking classes to earn my Master's degree in Library Science at ECU! #piratelife
 
This is my 11th year of teaching and all 10 years I've taught third grade until this year. I started teaching third grade in August 2011 at E.J. Hayes Elementary School in Williamston, NC. I worked there for about 5.5 years, but after having my oldest son, I wanted a shorter commute. Fortunately, I got hired with TCS in 2016 as a third grade teacher and I've been in the same position (but not the same classroom!) until this school year. 
 
In addition to teaching and spending time with my family, I love to take long naps, drink coffee, read, bake, do cross-stitch, practice knitting, play Pokémon Go and learn new things!

Using the CHAT feature in Google Meet

Here is a video teaching your child how to use the CHAT feature in Google Meet. It is really important that they learn how to do this so I can share links with them and we can complete our lessons without your child having to figure out where the assignments are by themselves. I don't want to spend all of our live time together learning these things because I also need to teach the content.

I recorded this video today (Tuesday 8/18), so it's not the best. Google Meet was still having some issues and so there are times the screen just has my Bitmoji picture, but you can still hear me and I think it will still be helpful. I will also post this on my web page and Google Classroom under Technology Help. You and your child can view this as many times as needed. Thanks!
