District Low Performing Plan

In accordance with North Carolina General Statute; “A Low-performing local school administrative unit is a unit in which the majority of the schools in that unit that received a school performance grade and school growth score as provided in G.S. 115C-83.15 have been identified as low-performing schools, as provided in G.S. 115C-105.37.” (G.S. 115C-105.39A(a)).

We encourage community feedback as we must continue to work on the plan for up to 30 days. Stakeholders can provide feedback to Mr. Oliver A. Holley, Superintendent via email at, or in writing by mailing or visiting our Central Office at PO Box 328, 1107 Hwy 64 East

Thank You Veterans!

Schools will be closed Monday, November 11th, in observance of Veterans Day. On Tuesday, November 12th at 9:30, TES will honor our local veterans with our annual Veterans Day Program. We are asking all local veterans to join us at 9:00 in the TES Media Center for light refreshments, and to take part in the Parade of Veterans leading up to the program. All students are encouraged to wear red, white, and/or blue.

Big Idea-November 2019

The Core Essentials character trait for the month of November is Honor. Throughout this month students will "say it, know it, see it, be it". Students will also learn the significance of the animal (rhinoceros) and the color (gold). Please help us promote our students showing honorable character this month.

Hobey Ford Puppetry

TES is honored to have with us October 28-30, 2019, Mr. Hobey Ford. Mr. Ford is known for his excellence in puppetry performance and craft as well as his skill as a master storyteller. Students in Pre-K through 5th grade will attend a performance during school, Monday, October 28th at the Vann Horne Auditorium. Tuesday and Wednesday, Mr. Ford will work with 3rd-5th grade classes during their Art classes to bring Art to life. This wonderful opportunity is being brought to our students thanks to the Grassroots Arts grant.
